SEIU, the union representing employees at Kern Medical, filed a complaint accusing the current hospital authority of financial misconduct. The union says that the current medical hospital authority overpaid their top executives by as much as 23 million dollars. Three top executives are named, including the CEO, CFO, and the former hospital CEO. An SEIU attorney alleges a conflict of interest for executives funneling millions of dollars away from the public hospital to their own management companies. The complaint is part of a long-running dispute between the hospital and the union over short-staffing, especially regarding nurses. The union says these conditions have compromised care at Kern Medical.
